Podcast Summary: Podcast Al Fresco with BeanGenius
Krishna Gupta & Adam Bunnell
Well as my first episode alone, I must admit, I was nervous. Just to foreshadow a little, you can tell because there are moments when i'm trying a bit too hard. My nervous laugh comes out and apparently my word of the day is, "fabulous." There was a safe word- Decaf.
The interview still went "fabulously" because Krishna and Adam from BeanGenius are terrific gentleman. BeanGenius is the coffee subscription service I personally use because it's a multi roaster service, which customizes your coffee order based off of algorithms and the coffees that pass their extensive coffee challenge. It's a very 2016, "smart recommendations" service much like netflix and the like. My favorite aspect to their service is they do not send roasters who give them "deals," honestly you pay a little more, but you will be mailed a great coffee. It's why I use it.
in the spring the guys went to Atlanta for the SCAA yearly conference about what is going on in the world of coffee, top topics Coldbrew coffee and nut milk. (haha) But seriously, looks out for big expansions in those two areas of specialty coffee.
We recorded at Aromas in Hollywood and although our server was nice, I would never go back there again for reasons I will tell you in person, but I will not type up. Just ask about the coffee and the cold sore. Yea, there is a reason we switched to liquor.
The mystery genius roaster in Lexington, Virginia is ... a secret..deal with it. Ha!
BeanGenius' new roasted coffee selling platform is up and running right at the home page. The platform is trying to make it easier for smaller roasters with great talent to sell on a national platform, and it is as easy as uploading pictures and comments to facebook. Roasters, you can email Adam for questions or to join at Adam@BeanGenius.com .
Here is my mentioned favorite Ice Cream McConnell's - It what Sandra and I had in our Affogatos last episode.
Shoutouts: Ron from Deaf Dog Coffee (now closed) , Dave West @audiokat, and Relevator
Apparently I called Adam "Daniel" for a few months, which is weird because I would talk to him on Instagram and I knew he was Adam. So it's a "thing" now, desk name plate and everything...so embarrassed, but it's hilarious.
